Passajj Productions will present A Musical: Madame Bovary, based on the novel by Gustave Flaubert, beginning May 17 at Roy Arias Stage IV.

Directed by Marlene Thorn Taber, performances will continue through June 2.

Hayley Hoffmeister will portray Emma Bovary, and Roger Rathburn will be Charles Bovary. The cast will also include John Raymond Barker, Alison Novelli, Eyal Sherf, Mia Rose Spackman, Patrick Thomas Spencer, Christopher G. Tefft and Carl G. Zurhorst.

A Musical: Madame Bovary features music and lyrics by Paul Dick. The musical, according to press notes, “brings to life Flaubert’s characters as they transition from youthful romanticism to mature reality except for Emma Bovary. This is the story of her passion.”

The creative team includes costume designer Roejendra Adams, lighting designer Mitchell Ost, production stage manager Brian R. Sekinger and scenic designer Aaron Sheckler.

Performances are Thursday-Saturday at 8 PM, Saturday and Sunday at 3 PM and May 20 and 27 and 8 PM.

Unfortunately we didn’t get a good clip of me singing my farewell song that night, so I am including a clip from my rehearsal with Joshua Stephen Kartes. This is the Mash-Up we had to put together. I chose Selena’s “I Could Fall In Love” and Alicia Key’s “No One”. They fit together beautifully!

On Wednesday, May 15, 2013, they will announce the winner of Stonewall Sensation 11. They have asked many of us contestants to come back and perform a number that evening.

What was particularly exciting to me was the chance to get feedback, notes, & criticism from these very talented people who I could learn a great deal from.

Each week I stayed in the competition, I sang a song (or songs) based on either my choice, a theme, or assignment. You got to vote for me by ballot for each drink you purchased. You purchased 1 drink, you got 1 ballot.

On Wednesday, May 1, 2013, the theme is a Mash-up of our own creation and one of the Singer/Songwriters chosen for us to pick, and we find out who makes it to the Top 5 with all 6 performing the songs they have prepared. I will be singing one of Paul Simon’s songs, “Mrs. Robinson”, and my Mash-up will begin with Selena’s “I Could Fall In Love”. The other song I will leave as a surprise (that’s the fun of mash-ups)!

This Wednesday is crucial! These votes place us into the final round, which is May 8. On May 8, votes determine who wins Stonewall Sensation.
